we sleep...

my hair tickles his face
before I close my eyes

my body fits the groove
of his arms
before i sleep.
his smell fills me
as our breathing becomes steady and deep
i press his body to mine
as we begin to dream.
we lie in each other's arms,
in the position we have memorized,
because it feels right.
we feel love.
i close my eyes and see
our past, present, and future.
they are interwoven together
with our love.
pieces in my mind, my heart, and my soul.

he holds me,
i feel my lover, my best friend,
and a part of myself.
i feel myself connect with him.
i don't want to let go.
we sleep now,
the way we will when we are gray,
we love now,
the way we will in forever and a day.
if time should stop,
let it be now,
as we bask in our love, our shield
from the world.

my hair tickles his face,
and we sleep

Men and puppies...
they are.....
surprisingly alike!
Let's clear one thing are not dogs.
Well... some are.
But most men... they are more like puppies than dogs.
I think of dogs as deliberate. When dogs are "bad," they behave that way knowingly.... in order to get away with something. Puppies do not. Puppies, most often, don't really know any better.
For instance,
-Puppies love puppy chow. If you feed a puppy, it will follow you around and wag it's tail. It will behave better and may even do a few tricks in order to get a "treat."
Men love a good meal and men love "treats" too. Feed a man (with good food, great sex, lots of affection, and love) and he will likely stick around and try to convince you to give him more.
-Puppies are loyal, but to a point. A puppy might jump on you, lick your face and pay a lot of attention to you until someone else comes around and starts throwing a ball or a bone for it to fetch. Puppies are easily distracted.
Men.... they are easily distracted, too. They want to hang out with you, cuddle with you and talk with you ...... until something distracts them. Like football, their buddies or the Wall Street Journal.
-Puppies don't often respond to your requests when you yell at them. In fact, yelling and talking about how "bad" they were... it makes them less likely to do what you want them to do. They only seem interested in pleasing you when you ignore them or offer positive reinforcement.
Okay so this is a no brainer... what do men respond to? Yelling, criticism or negative talk? No.... men respond to no contact. So, if you are trying to get your point across to a man, don't try to get your point across. Just shut the hell up and spend your time doing more useful things.... like going out with the girls. Eventually, a man will wonder where you are. And just like a puppy, he will do whatever it takes to recapture your attention.
-Puppies take a while to house train. Don't expect a puppy to come into the house knowing not to take a dump there.
Don't expect a man to intuitively know what it is you expect from him and how he might go about meeting those expectations. Men need to hear it from you.... they aren't mind readers. Be specific and try not to nag. If it doesn't happen the first time and if it doesn't happen exactly as you expect..... give him a few more chances and see how it goes.
-The best puppies are those that come from loving homes.
The same holds true for men.... the more a man has been loved by his family, the more likely he will know how to best love you.
-Dogs are considered to be "man's best friend" (probably because they don't have much to say) which leads me to believe that puppies have to be someone's best friend, too.
If trained properly, I think a puppy can be a woman's best friend... do you?
Remember.... there are some puppies that are difficult to tame but might still turn out to be excellent dogs.
There are also some puppies that should be sent directly to the pound....
And then there are the bad, bad puppies... they turn out to be real dogs.... and nobody wants a dog for a boyfriend.....
Feel free to list any more similarities that I may have forgotten...
And remember, guys... it's all in good fun!

She's Baccckkkkk

Hey y'all I'm thinking of making a comeback. Thought I'd test the waters and see if anybody out there still cares what I think or what I have to say. Y'all let me know, okay?
I'll start by sharing this little story with ya.

Chocolate Sings

Recently I had a date for lunch with friends. Mae, a little old lady about 80 years old, came along with them--All in all, a pleasant bunch. When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Mae who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate."

I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie," Mae added, completely unabashed. We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time. But when our orders were bro ught out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes off Mae as her pie a-la-mode went down. The other ladies showed dismay. They ate their lunches silently and frowned.

The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Mae. I lunched on white meat tuna. She ordered a parfait. I smiled. She asked if she amused me. I answered, "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me. How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible?

She laughed and said, with wanton mirth, "I'm tasting all that's Possible. I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good. This year I realized how old I was. (She grinned) I haven't been this old before."

"So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored. I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many books I haven't read. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead. There are many malls I haven't shopped. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of Broadway hits and potato chips and cokes.

I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace. I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want UN-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most. I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind in my hair. I want to fall in love again. So, if I choose to have dessert,

i nstead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say

I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired."

With that, I called the waitress over. "I've changed my mind," I said. "I want what she is having, only add some more whipped cream!"

This is my gift to you - We need an annual Friends Day! If you get this twice, then you have more than one friend. Live well, love much & laugh often - Be happy.

Be mindful that happiness isn't based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people we love and respect. Remember that while money talks, CHOCOLATE SINGS.

The Victor

How was he to know
I unlike the others
would not trample on his heart
in my quest for freedom

Before I could offer my hand
he drew first blood
satisfied that tonight
he would be the victor

My steps faltered
the venom took it's hold
I battled to remain upright
outlast the inevitable

Eyelids slowly closing
Slipping softly to the ground
My breaths turned into gasps

As I lay there
life slowly ebbing away
my eyes opened
looking towards the heavens
incredulous with wonder

A new hope filled me
Pain no longer touched me
I had reached my destination
and doing so
attained an everlasting Nirvana

It was I who was the victor.

The Anger Within

The anger within
rolls upon me
as an approaching storm,
dark clouds moving
with a flash of light,
quick and then gone
only to return,
a harshness of words
like the howling wind,
destructive presence
and forceful fury
is this who I have become
or who I've always been

The Portrait

let's paint a portrait
you and I
using no colors from yesterday
working only with what we have today
no future, no past,
no promises, no returns

just for a little while
let our thoughts run wild
imagine the possiblities
flights of fantasy

just for tonight
let's pretend,
pretend you care,
and that I don't
live in the moment

lets pretend,
pretend we've never been hurt,
we've never loved and lost
just for tonight let's make believe

the cold gray dawn
of tomorrow will come soon enough
for just one moment
let's pretend...

One Moment Too Long

for so long i waited

hoping everyday

you would see me

your eyes would turn my way

a smile a glace

an acknowledgement

i yearned for just one look

assurance i was not invisible

i practiced

what i'd say

should you ever

look my way

hours, days go by

late at night

i lay awake and cry

why God, why

can't he see

who i am

why can't he see me

today that look came

at last you saw me

you looked so surprised

but you waited

one moment too long

what might have been

will never be

today you saw me

as i walked away

Dying Inside

when you see the one you love..

 with the one they love

your wanting someone so bad,

but you just can't have them

going to sleep thinking about them

knowing theyre thinking about someone else

something inside you dies

 a piece at a time

until there are no more pieces

then you take your emptiness wrap it around you

 and you die inside

Sometimes it feels
like life just gets too hard,
too messy
to make sense of it all.
There are times
where all you can do
is to simply let go and move on
gather courage together
and choose a direction
that carries you toward a new dawn

We can't change yesterday,
but, we do have the power
to make today a wonderful day
and to fill our tomorrows
with hope

So keep putting one foot
in front of the other
and taking your life
day by day.

I may not be able to find
the right words, or say
the right things,
but know you're in my
thoughts every day.

Life Ain't Always Beautiful

Life ain't always beautiful
Sometimes it's just plain hard
Life can knock you down, it can break your heart

Life ain't always beautiful
You think you're on your way
And it's just a dead end road at the end of the day

But the struggle makes you stronger
And the changes make you wise
And happiness has it's own way of takin' it sweet time

No,life aint always beautiful
Tears will fall sometimes
Life aint always beautiful
But it's a beautiful ride

Life aint always beautiful
Some days I miss your smile
I get tired of walkin' all these lonely miles

And I wish for just one minute
I could see your pretty face
Guess I can dream, but life dont work that way

But the struggles makes me stronger
And the changes make me wise
And happiness has it's own way of takin' its sweet time

No, life aint always beautiful
But I know I'll be fine
Hey, life aint always beautiful
But its a beautiful ride
What a beautiful ride

If only it were true....

What Does Love Mean

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:
From the mouths of babes...

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.

So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."--Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."--Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."--Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." --Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." --Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."--Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"--Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.."--Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"--Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."--Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."--Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.

He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."--Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody

You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." --Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."--Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Brad Pitt."--Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."--Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."--Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an image)--Karen - age 7

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."--Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

Sometimes that's all you can do. Just help them cry.
Sometimes that's all we need.
