Another Tuesday With Wanda

Hey gang!! Well Ivan didn't blow us away, but he sure tried. Here in Podunt the damage was mostly downed power lines and trees. Lots of both. We just got our power back yesterday. We have a tree down in our side yard which has to be cut up and moved, we're working on that. We had almost no personal loss (just some trees and food in the freezer). Thank God.
Zach, Kasey and I sat out on our patio during most of the storm. The wind was coming in from the southeast and the patio faces the southwest so the house blocked the worst of it. It was amazing. We saw huge trees bend like they were pretzels. This was Zach's first hurricane and he was very excited. Of course he didn't realize how dangerous and damaging they can be. He was very shocked when he saw the pictures on tv, of the damage down around Destin and Pensacola. The worst damage was to the west and south of us, along the Gulf Coast. My heart really aches for those folks.
Well I am off to check out some more books and then to the market. I hope all of you are doing well and I still miss you so very much!!!

Tuesdays With Wanda

Well, alas, Francis did not grace us with her best. She was all spent out and used up by the time she made her way into the edges of sweet home Alabama. We've gotten a bit of rain, and a small gust or two of wind but not so much that you'd know it was a hurricane that had wrecked the havoc she did on Florida and the Bahamas. Of course there's still Ivan out there. I hope he will be a true southern gentleman and by pass Florida. Those poor folks don't need a third strike.
I only have a short time ( the library has a time limit of 30 minutes) and so much to cover. I am unable to access many of your blogs because of the strong content filter on the computers here.
I want to thank all of you who have written me via snell mail. It is just so neat to get letters from you. Your well wishes and cheerful letters give my spirits such a lift. Thank you ever so much.
Phyllis, I just finished reading Sue Grafton's "K is for Killer". I have to say I was a bit disappointed. It ended so abruptly. There were so many questions left unanswered. (What were JD and Lela hiding? Did Roger really kill Lena? Was he the one who beat Danielle up and killed her? ) I am running out of books to read and may have to resort to re-reading some that I read years ago. I have been trying to get the library to order more current best sellers but I don't think my wishes are high on their list of priorities. Imagine that!!
Time's up, so I must go. Please know I am thinking of you! Everyone!
