dogs understand what "no" means.
Gorgeous dogs don't know they're gorgeous.

dogs understand if some of their friends cannot come inside. ( I'm not so sure about this one. Petunia and Dakota don't seem to understand why Thumper the humper [neighbor's dog, who's name tells all] can't live with us)
