American Idol, Racist?

According to Elton John the voting on American Idol is racist. Well duh! Like we need Elton to tell us this? I'm no fan of AI. After the first season it all pretty much became the same old thing with different shoes. Even I know that this isn't about talent. Since when did being an American Idol have anything to do with talent? It's about the cute factor. It's about popularity. Yes I know Ruben won last year, but hey, even if he is large the dude is cute as a velvet teddy bear.
When you have your primary voting audience between the ages of 9 and 16, who cares about talent.? Get a grip here people. These are teeny bopper little girls. They aren't interested in talent. They are voting for who they like. This is a popularity contest and anybody who went into it thinking otherwise, is just flat out dumb. Sorry but I call em like I see em.
Besides when did having talent mean you come out on top? Being talented, smart, and funny used to mean something. That's when we had stars like Carol Burnett and Jackie Gleason. Not so much anymore. Why should American Idol be any different?
Elton, my dear, you have a PBS mind in an MTV world. Put your big girl panties on and deal with it!
